Bob pitched during my kid hood in the Chicago area and I´ve read a bit about his admirable life. Here´s an image of a beautiful 1953 Bowman baseball card I´ll be picking up soon. Regards ....

Bob Friend was my boyhood idol. I treasured his baseball cards, memorized his stats, and watched on TV whenever his starts were televisied. I wrote him several fan letters and he always answered with picture postcards and handwritten notes. Several years ago I wrote again, thanking him for the great memories, and once again, he replied with kindness.
