Godwin, Hilda Sellars  
HILDA SELLARS GODWIN Hilda Sellars Godwin died on December 12, 2014. She was born in Wilmington to the late Lottie Babb and Louie Judson Sellars. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years, Ralph Lee Godwin; her sister Vista Ray and brother-in-law Henry Jackson Farr and her sister Vivian Louise Barber. She is survived by her son, Ralph Lee Godwin and his wife Loreta Eyster Godwin, daughters Kimberly Sue Godwin, Martha Nell Godwin, Leslie Faye Samet and her husband Carl Mitchell Samet; her grandchildren Judson Boaen Terry, Olivia Godwin, Sara Kahao, Warren Kahao, and great granddaughter Mary Catherine Stice; Brother-in-law James Max Godwin and wife Jean; sister-in-law Wanda Bragg Godwin and many nieces and nephews. There will be a private burial. A celebration of life will be held at the Cameron Museum of Art at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cameron Art Museum, 3201 South 17th Street, Wilmington, NC 28412 Condolences to the family may be offered at www.coblewardsmithwilmington.com

Guhl, Jeffrey Lawrence - 1. New Hanover  
JEFFREY LAWRENCE GUHL Jeffrey Lawrence Guhl, age 72, died Thursday, December 11th at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center after a short battle with lung cancer. Jeff Guhl was born on Feb 7th, 1942 in Stamford, Connecticut. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Ash) Guhl, his brother Richard Guhl (wife Judie) of Allentown PA, two sons - Jonathon Guhl (wife, Heather) of Fredericksburg, VA and Michael Guhl (wife, Joan) of Marietta, GA. He also leaves behind five delightful grandchildren - Justin, Katherine, Lauren, Jocelyn, and Jack - and many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Corinne Guhl, and his daughter Joanne Guhl. From 1961-1965, Jeff served with the U.S. Navy where he learned electronics and engineering, which would become his career. While serving on the U.S.S. Wasp, his crew picked up returning astronauts from the Gemini 6 and 7 spacecraft. His time in the Navy was extended by the Vietnam War. Jeff's civilian career began with RCA in Portland, ME. After two years, Jeff went to work for IBM, where his 25 year career took him to Owego, NY, Manassas, VA and Portsmouth, England. His primary work involved integrating hardware and software on US Navy submarines. While Jeff was in England, Lockheed Martin bought the Federal Systems Divisions he worked for and upon his return to the United States in 1996, he worked 5 more years for Lockheed/Loral. Jeff retired in 2001 to Wilmington, North Carolina. He joined Pine Valley Country Club and enjoyed his retirement, his lifelong passion for golf and New York sports teams, and his friends, old and new. Services will be held at 4pm on Monday, December 15th at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28412. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception at Pine Valley Country Club immediately following it, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, ( www.lcfhospicefoundation.org ) OR the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina ( www.foodbankcenc.org ).
