HOWARD SALYER Howard Ray Salyer, 69, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at home. Howard was born October 20, 1945 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Roy Salyer and Ava Grace Holt Salyer. His brother, Roy Salyer, preceded him in death. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left an impact on so many lives with his honesty, compassion, sense of fairness, sense of humor, love of life, willingness to help others, and ability to completely forgive, teaching these and many qualities to his entire family. He retired from Federal Paper in 2004 after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Karen Salyer; two daughters, April Benson of Harrells, NC, and Tabitha Moore (David) of Garland, NC; a son, Jasper Benson, Jr. (Jennifer) of Rose Hill, NC; five grandchildren, Madison Clifton, Katelyn Moore, Cameron Moore, Joshua Benson, and Bethany Benson; sister-in-law, Ann Salyer of Sachse, TX; two nieces, Michelle Pritchett of McKinney, TX, and Yvonne Dean of Gilmer, TX; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved girls, "Roxy" and "Sky". A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Anchor Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Nichols officiating. Prior to the service, the family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Howard's memory may be made to Anchor Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Futch Creek Road, Wilmington, NC 28411. Stack, Martha Hyde Reynolds - 1. New Hanover  
MARTHA HYDE REYNOLDS STACK Martha Hyde Reynolds Stack, age 98 of Wilmington passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter. She was born on April 11, 1917. Her parents were Andrew Jackson Hyde and Susan Wakefield Hyde. She was the widow of Harrell Reynolds, Sr. and Ervin Stack. Martha was a proud veteran of WW II having served as an Army Nurse with the rank of 1st Lieutenant serving from January 1945 until June of 1947.After the war she studied and graduated from Johns Hopkins University Hospital with a degree in Surgical Nursing. She was an active and longtime member of Winter Park Baptist Church and was a proud member of the Keenagers Group Martha is survived by her sons, Philip Reynolds of Wilmington and Michale K. Reynolds and wife Lynda of Idaho and his daughters, Amanda and Kaitlyn; one surviving brother, Tharell Hyde; step-son, Harrell Reynolds, Jr. and wife Permelia and children, Harrell III, Brian and Kimberly; special friend and care giver Esther Brown; several nieces and nephews, including Joan and Ray Williams of Carolina Beach. She was preceded in death by six siblings. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be 3 to 4 pm Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory with a memorial donation to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. GARY R. STALKER Gary R. Stalker, 69 of Carolina Beach went to be with his beloved wife Marie on March 27, 2015. He was also preceded in death by a brother Mitchell Stalker. Gary is survived by his daughter Christy Padgett and her husband Gary, 3 grandchildren Brittany, David and Gary Alexander Miller, 1 great grandson Brayden Miller, brother Roger Stalker, beloved nieces and nephews, and best friend Susan Porterfield. He was a master carpenter and a Lieutenant at the Federal Point Fire Department. His biggest love was his family.
