Moseley, Jessie Raymond Smith - Staunton
JESSIE RAYMOND SMITH MOSELEY Jessie Raymond Smith Moseley, born on April 19, 1929 in Onslow County, NC, died on June 24, 2016 at age 87 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas V. Moseley, her parents, Raymond Bryan Smith and Frances Rebecca Richardson Smith, her sister Eleanor Frances Smith, and her son, Dan Parrott Moseley. Jessie is survived by her son, Thomas V. Moseley. Jr. of Butler, PA, daughters Rebecca Moseley Fancher (Pack) of Staunton, VA and Charlotte Moseley Worsley (Earl) of Wilmington, NC; and grandchildren, Reverend John (Jay) Floyd Howell, III of Memphis, TN, Rachel Frances Howell Mobley (Clayton) of Birmingham, AL, and William Earl Worsley of Wilmington, NC. Jessie was graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston, NC in 1947 where she was Valedictorian of her class and from Duke University Nursing School in 1952. Because she grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else, Jessie had met her future husband, Tom, years before. But it wasn't until the summer after graduating from college that they had their first date. Tom was the love of her life, and after a whirlwind romance, they married later that year in December. Jessie loved Tom until the day she died and is reunited with him now. Jessie enjoyed living at Brightmore Retirement Community and especially loved her friends at her lunch table and playing Bridge with her Tuesday morning Bridge group. Jessie's dearest and lifelong friend, Eleanor James, was not only her sister in Christ but was loved as only a real sister could be loved. Jessie was a member of Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church and loved her years volunteering for The American Red Cross in New Hanover County. A memorial service will be held on July 8th at 4:00pm at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 800 Piner Road, Wilmington, NC 28409. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately before the service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church or to The American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area of North Carolina, 1102 South 16th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
