Mohan Jr., John Francis (Jack) - Wilmington  
JOHN FRANCIS MOHAN, JR. (JACK) John Francis Mohan, Jr. (Jack) died in his home on April 23, 2016 in Wilmington, NC surrounded by his family. He was 86. He was born on May 14, 1929 to John Francis Mohan Sr. and Anna Husband Mohan He grew up in Garden City, NY and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Commerce and Business Administration in 1953. While at Alabama, Jack was an active member of Delta Chi Fraternity and was a member of the Track and Field Team. Jack met his true love Sue Alice Jowers at the University of Alabama. They married July 18, 1953. Soon after, they settled in Fort Benning, Georgia where Jack served two years in the military. At the conclusion of his military service, Jack began a long career with Simmons Bedding Company. The family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, Birmingham, Alabama, and then to North Carolina and made this their forever home. During their years of marriage, Jack and Sue were blessed with six children. His large family gave him a full and joyful life. Jack had many friends and colleagues during his life. He was a lifelong fan and supporter of The University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He was an avid volleyball and softball player. He coached little league baseball for his sons and the boys and the neighborhood. In his later years, Jack enjoyed working in his yard and garden. Jack was a devout Catholic and a long-standing member of Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Sue, his parents and his son in law Tom Roberson. He is survived by his children John (Jetta) Mohan, Alice (Bobby) Stevens, Mark (Margaret) Mohan, Susan Roberson, Julie (David) Uehling and David Mohan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ryann (John) Lowdermilk, Neil Stevens, Turner Stevens, Carley (Mark) McRee, Judson Mohan, John Uehling, Matthew Uehling, Melissa Uehling, Patrick (Emily) Roberson and Matt (Tess) Williams. He is survived by three great grandchildren, Ella Grace Lowdermilk, Hanna Lowdermilk and Margaret Roberson. Also surviving are his sisters, Pat Beck, Marguerite Gowdie and Kathy (Danny) Canade as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like thank the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their great care and compassion during his final days. Funeral services will be at The Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC on Wednesday, April 27 at 10:00 am. Nash, Terry Lee - 1. New Hanover  
TERRY LEE NASH Terry Lee Nash, age 61, took the stairway to Heaven on Musician's time leaving the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in the early morning of Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 to meet Jesus, reunite with his Dad, brothers and sisters and to play in those Heavenly Bands. He was our "Prince" of Music. God Blessed him with the beautiful talent of music and played those keyboards with passion to the max by ear, by age fifteen he started his long and happy musical career till the very end, jamming and playing with numerous bands. A humble soul who inspired a multitude of people of all ages, the youngest son of the late C.E. (Bill) Nash and Doris Nash Marley. Surviving in addition to his Mother is his loving wife, soulmate and advocate, Windy, his brother Larry (Carol), sister Linda Holland (Fred) all of Carolina Beach, his Mother and Father-In-Law Doris and Fred Whitman, Brother-In-Law Fred Jr., Step-Father Joe Marley. Also surviving are four Nieces, Wendy, Heidi, Bobbi and Santana, one Nephew Marty, and four Great Nieces Molly, Chelsae, Emma and Ava, five Great Nephews, Kaleb, Ryan, Alex, Preston and Stefan. Terry Lee loved his family, friends, fans and loved writing and recording music of all genres, with his huge family of musicians and singers. Gospel was his favorite. Terry also loved sports, especially Carolina Basketball and Washington Redskins Football and talking with his friends about the games. Carolina Beach and the world has lost a very gifted musician whose smile and laughter was contagious. Terry was a very positive and spiritual soul and he will remain in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Terry's Life with Music will be held on Sunday, May 1st, 2016, from 2-6pm at the American Legion on Bridge Barrier Road at Carolina Beach, NC. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday May 5th 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Carolina Beach with Pastor Shawn Blackwelder ~ We Love You Terry ~ Hugs & Kisses! BETTY GEIMAN NEWTON Betty Geiman Newton, 85, died peacefully in her home at Gayton Terrace in Richmond, VA on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Mazie Pearson and Wade Hampton Geiman of Purcellville, VA. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Preston Howser Newton. She is survived by her sisters, June Anderson of Leesburg, VA and Charlotte Lewis of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her three sons: David (Robin) of Richmond, Kevin (Barbie) of Gainesville and Bruce (Kathy) of Manassas, and eight grandchildren: Mark (Arla), Hunter, Wyatt, Connor, Brady, Tatum, Brooke and Brett, along with many nieces and nephews. She worked for the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon, the Corps of Engineers at Mount Weather, and with the Fairfax County Department of Social Services. After retiring in 1990, she moved to Wilmington, NC, where she lived for 20 years. She enjoyed her friends, cooking and entertaining, her church and the beach. She moved to Richmond in 2013 to be closer to her family. She loved her grandchildren and all of their activities. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Redskins, the Yankees and tennis, but her favorite pastime was shopping. She enjoyed her many new friends during her time at Gayton Terrace. Our family is grateful to Dr. Randal J. West and his nurses and staff for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Westhampton College Class of 1952 Scholarship. A memorial service will be held in the Canon Memorial Chapel at the University of Richmond on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception following.

Paschall, Mildred Wemyss - Wilmington  
MILDRED WEMYSS PASCHALL Mildred Darien Wemyss Paschall, 103, of Wilmington, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center. Mildred was born January 19, 1913 in Warren County, North Carolina, daughter of the late John Robert Wemyss and Claude Morgan Wemyss. Her husband, Albert Holt Paschall, sister, Thelma Robertson, and three brothers, Macon, Perry, and Alton Wemyss, preceded her in death. Mildred spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her beloved daughter Barbara. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and their spouses along with her great grandchildren. Everyone loved her delicious country cooking. Her life exemplified southern hospitality and an unselfish focus on meeting the needs of others. Even in her final weeks the workers at the nursing home were deeply touched by her sweet demeanor and sense of humor. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Paschall LeGwin (Jere) of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Marjorie LeGwin Stockford (Jeffery) of Wilmington, and Louisa LeGwin Ramirez (Robert) of Cary, NC; six great-grandchildren, Grace Stockford Gavin (Carsen), and Sophie, Isolde, Luke, Ambrose, and Audrey Ramirez; nephew, Todd Wemyss; two nieces, Jill Wemyss Coleman, and Lys LeGwin Busch (Bob); and great-niece, Sarah Busch. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. A graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, with Rev. Jeffery Stockford officiating.
