ADELINE B. BROADNAX

Sarah Adeline Boling Broadnax passed into eternity May 8, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice having fought a courageous battle against cancer.

Born on June 7, 1930, in Taylors, South Carolina, Adeline graduated from Taylor's High School and then completed the Nursing program at Greenville General Hospital. In 1951 she married John Calvin Broadnax, Sr. and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Both Greenville General Hospital and St. Francis Hospital benefitted from her skilled and compassionate nursing skills, prior to the time she devoted her full attention to raising her precious family: her daughter, Janet Black (JB) of Tallahassee, Florida and two sons John Calvin Jr. of Easley and David Alan Broadnax of Taylors, South Carolina. After her children were grown, Adeline returned to work at the Piedmont Orthopedic Clinic where she served for twenty-three years. Then, she and John retired to Holden Beach, NC.

Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell A. and Florence Boling; two brothers, James Ariail and Raymond Mitchell. She has two surviving sisters, Betty Boling Lancaster of Williamsport, PA, and Edith Boling Lee of Taylors, SC; and sister-in-law Catherine Pridmore Boling of Greenville, SC. Her dear grandchildren, who will miss her kind encouragement and love are Alan Broadnax, Jared Black, Travis Black, Anna Broadnax and Joshua Broadnax. To each of her family and friends she will be remembered as a woman of faith, beauty, strength and possessing a kindness that knew no limits.

A Memorial service will be conducted at Holden Beach Chapel at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Holden Beach Chapel. A private family service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC.
