ALLIE MORRIS HENRY BREWINGTON Allie Morris Henry Brewington, age 85, of Wilmington, NC entered into eternal rest on Tuesday February 5, 2014. Allie was born February 11, 1928 to the late Elmore and Sophia Bordeaux Henry in Pender County. She was a graduate of Pender County Training School, and earned an A.B. Degree in English with a minor in French, at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina. Further studies were pursued at A&T State University, Greensboro, N.C., N.C. State University Raleigh, N.C. and the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, NC. Mrs. Brewington taught English in high schools in Wallace and Clinton, NC and in Wilmington, NC at Williston Senior High School and New Hanover High from which she retired. She was a teacher-tutor at the Wilmington Life Center and a part-time English instructor at Miller-Motte Business College, Wilmington, N.C. She was very active in numerous community activities. She maintained her membership at Moore's Creek Missionary Baptist Church but with some regularity of attendance at Chestnut Street Presbyterian Church and St James AME Church Castle Hayne. Throughout her life she had served as a member and volunteer at St. John's Museum; and the N.H.C. Library; President of the Wilmington Shaw University Alumni Assoc.; co-chairperson of the Shaw University Youth Program; a Soror and Board of Trustee member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; as well as co-chairperson of Delta's Youth Lift Program; corresponding secretary of the Cape Fear Area Retired Teachers; and President of New Hanover County Retired School Personnel. Mrs. Brewington was married to the late Timothy Wilburn Brewington. Allie Brewington will be truly missed by her children, Carmen (Al) Code of Wilmington, NC; Marvin (Wanda) Brewington of Raleigh, NC; Timothy Brewington of Carolina Beach, NC; Sheila (Samuel Jr) Grady of Wilmington, NC; Reginald (Sharon) Brewington of Wilmington, NC.; Grandchildren, Amber (LaCarlus) Robinson of Garner, NC ; Regina Brewington of Wilmington, NC; Danielle Brewington of Philadelphia, PA; Erica Brewington of Atlanta, GA; Allen Brewington of Manhattan, NY; Alyesha Grady of Wilmington, NC and Michael Grady of Wilmington, NC; Great grandchildren, Alexander, Jeramiah, and Ivy Robinson; Two sisters, Mary E. Hill of Baltimore, MD; and Ophelia (William) Joyner of Chesapeake, VA.; two sisters-in-law, Louise T. Brewington, Montclair, NJ; and Carolyn Brewington Brown of Burgaw, NC. Home going services will be Friday 11:00 am, February 14 , 2014 at Moore's Creek Missionary Baptist Church 60 Minuteman Road, Currie NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Davis Funeral Home 901 S. 5th St. Wilmington. NC at 6:00 pm.
