AUGUST KUIGRE

Supply -- Mr. August Kuigre age 89 of Supply died Saturday March 16, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Kuigre was born in Estonia on March 20, 1923 and was the son of the late Aleksander and Mari Salu Kuigre. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jannia Varnam Kuigre. In search of freedom from the German Army that held his family in a concentration camp, he and his friends first escaped to Sweden and bought a boat at the age of 25 that come ashore in Southport, NC. He soon made his home in Varnamtown where he raised his family. He was a skilled carpenter and excellent boat builder and commercial fisherman. He was a friend to anyone that knew him. He was a member of Gospel Center Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Royals Kuigre of the home; children, Alex Kuigre and wife Sheila, Wanda Smith and husband James and Linda Hewett all of Varnamtown, Benjamin Owens and wife Kathy of Supply; three sisters, Leida Siim, Alma Toom, Naima Tuurmaa all of Estonia; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 2pm at Gospel Center Baptist Church with Reverend Foyd Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgetown-Holden Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Mark Galloway, Danny Galloway, Sammy Varnam, Daniel Hewett, Sampie Varnum, Norman Ingram.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Gospel Center Baptist Church and other times at the home.
