BILLIE EUGENIA CHADWICK
Billie Chadwick was received into the loving arms of her Savior on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Billie was born at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, on September 29, 1930, and raised in Wilmington, NC, by her parents Robert Alexander Chadwick and Bonnie Lee DuPriest Chadwick. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1948 and married Leon (Pete) Chadwick on September 10, 1949.
Billie worked for many years as a medical assistant, and actively supported her community hospital and her church. She volunteered in Pastoral Care at Doylestown Hospital and was honored with a 20 year meritorious service award. She also served as a Deacon at Doylestown Presbyterian Church. Most recently she was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church and the Homestead Sunday School Class. She was involved in Briarwood Presbyterian's Love Ministry and Revitalization Committee Ministry. Billie was admired for her gentle, quiet spirit and her gift of hospitality. She was always eager to open her home to visiting missionaries and Christian functions.
Billie was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Bonnie Chadwick. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leon (Pete) Chadwick, Sr. daughter Deborah Chadwick Holmes (Robert) of Alpharetta, GA; her son Leon Lee Chadwick, Jr. (Kelly) of Vestavia Hills, AL; her sister Betty Chadwick Matzke (Eric) of Wilmington, NC; brother Robert (Bobby) Alexander Chadwick (Bland) of Wilmington, NC; grandson Robert Chadwick Holmes of Houston, TX; granddaughters Kirsten Holmes Girguis (Sam) of Woodstock, GA; Katherine Crandall Chadwick, Caroline Lee Chadwick, and Margaret
Alexander Chadwick of Vestavia Hills, AL. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Andoly Emma Girguis of Woodstock, GA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Briarwood Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Community Bible Study International.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montavelo, AL. This will be followed by a gathering of family and friends at the home of Leon and Kelly Chadwick in Vestavia Hills. Then the family will receive visitors from 12:30 - 1:30 PM in the foyer of Briarwood Presbyterian Church at 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, AL. A memorial service will follow in the Sanctuary from 1:30 - 2:30 PM.
