CLARICE GRAVES HOOD

Clarice Graves Hood, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully with her family at the age of 89 on February 16, 2013 at Davis Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on November 25, 1923 in Chesterfield County, SC. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 1944 where she met her husband, Floyd C. Hood. She was employed by Lance, Inc. from 1949 until her retirement in 1985.

After retirement, Clarice and Floyd spent most of their leisure time at Ocean Lakes, Myrtle Beach, SC, where they made many friends from all over the US. After Floyd passed away in 1995, Clarice moved permanently to Ocean Lakes. In February 2009, she moved to Plantation Village in Wilmington, NC, where she remained until her passing.

Clarice is survived by her son, Col. Floyd C. Hood and wife Ellen of Wilmington, NC; two very special grandchildren, Lt. Col. David Hood of Arlington, VA and Adrianne H. Quigley and husband William of High Point, NC. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Clarice was predeceased by her husband and an infant son, David Griffin Hood, three sisters and two brothers.

Clarice enjoyed gardening and was an "Avid Walker". She was referred to by all who knew her as "One Sweet Lady".

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to Davis Rehabilitation and Wellness Pavilion, 1011 Porter's Neck Road, Wilmington, NC 28411, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or a charity on your choice.
