DALE C. MASTERS

Dale Charles Masters, 72, of Hampstead, formerly of Rochester, NY, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Dale was born November 20, 1940 in Rochester, NY, son of the late Emory Louis Masters and Marion Cliff Masters.

Dale, an accomplished musician, sang in the choir of his parish, St. Stanislaus, and played guitar with the Wilmington Big Band and Swing Shift Band in Rochester. A restorer of British cars, he was a founding member of the British Motor Club of Cape Fear, and published author of The Body Under the Bonnet. Dale proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and retired from Xerox in Rochester before moving to Hampstead.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Masters; daughter, Mary S. Vaughan (Kevin) of Jacksonville, NC; son, Tom A. Masters (Robert Olsen) of Southfield, MA; four grandchildren, K.C., Mark, and Alex Vaughan, and Mickey Masters; and a brother, Leland Masters of Rhode Island.

The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Friday, March 1, 2013, with a prayer service at 7pm, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10am Saturday, March 2, 2013, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne, with Rev. Roger Nyimi officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dale's memory to Southeastern Nephrology, 1302 Medical Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, or to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Choir Fund, 4849 Castle Hayne Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
