Donald Ray Baker, Sr. was a loving Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and a friend to many. He was a very caring, hard working and passionate man. He was always quick with a joke to make you smile. He was the Best Barber in the world and his clients soon became his friends and then became part of his large family. He loved helping others and making them feel and look their best. You could be his first client or his last; he would never say no or turn a client away. His time was your time no matter how busy he might be. He loved life, his family and his dogs, Sadie, Pepper and Paris, whom he treated as if they were his own children. He gave so much to everyone and never lost hope in anyone. He found God and was blessed by God's word. Not only has heaven received a Saint, but the Lord has also gained a "one of a kind" barber. He will always be remembered and never forgotten and may his soul rest in peace.
He is survived by a son, Don Baker II of Greenville, NC, a daughter Dondrea Baker of Wilmington, NC, a granddaughter, Jordyn Baker of Wilmington, NC, a brother, Felton Baker of Wallace, NC and two sisters, Ethelyn Baker Usher of Rose Hill and Leathia Mae Baker Lanier and husband Billy Ray of Hampstead, NC, a sister-in-law, Mina Baker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born March 7, 1944 in Rose Hill, Mr. Baker was the son of the late Evans Norton and Lonie Anders Baker and was preceded in death by seven brothers, Benjamin Forest Baker Sr., Deford Baker, Harland Baker, Norton Baker, Anson Lee Baker, Ellis Grey Baker and Dorwood Baker.
