Dorothy Helen Lento Dinaro, 96, of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on February 24, 1917, in Marshallville, OH, the daughter of the late Lewis G. and Louisa Mae Soper Geiser. Also remembered are her husbands, Louis M. Lento and Salvatore Dinaro, Sr.; granddaughter, Tina Marie Jensen; sisters, Iva Nierman and Ardith Horst; brother, Donald Geiser; and a son-in-law, Raymond Consolino, all of who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dinaro was formerly of Bellport, Long Island, NY, where she was a long time member of St. Joseph the Worker Parrish and the VFW. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Pacifica Welcome Committee and SIM at St. Mark Catholic Church. She also enjoyed many activities at the Senior Center in Wilmington, NC.

Surviving is a son, Merle L. Lento of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Marie Mallon and husband Joseph of Wilmington, NC and Jane Consolino of Leland, NC; a stepson, Salvatore Dinaro, Jr. and wife Anita of Long Island, NY; four grandchildren, Anthony Costagliola and wife Chris, Angela Consolino, Theresa Cassella and Mary Vitkum and husband Kenneth; great-grandchildren, Michael, Vincent, Alexa, Kenneth, Vincent, Stephanie and Christopher; sister, Mary Holderman and husband David; brother-in-law, Vernon Horst; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday at St. Mark Catholic Church. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel at St. Mark Catholic Church.

The family would like to express a special note of thanks to the staff at New Hanover Senior Center and Heavenly Angels(especially Ms. Thelma), all the staff at Pacifica Senior Living (especially her dining friends), the staff at NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center , the visually impaired of Wilmington and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their compassion and loving care.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
