James Cameron MacRae

JAMES CAMERON MACRAE Fayetteville, NC- Mr. James Cameron MacRae, 80, of Fayetteville died peacefully in his home on Sunday February 16, 2014. He was born in Asheville, NC on Sept 21, 1933. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned a Law Degree. He also served in the US Army with a tour of duty in Korea. James came to Fayetteville in 1961 to practice law with his father. At the time of his death he was senior partner in the law firm of MacRae, Perry, MacRae, and Whitley. He served as past president of the Cumberland County Bar and was a NC State Bar Counselor for the 12th Judicial District. Surviving are his wife, Susan Nimocks MacRae; four children, Marie M. Sutherland and husband, Alex, James C. MacRae, Jr. and wife, Julie all of Fayetteville, Samuel H. MacRae and wife, Nicki of Wilmington, and Katherine M. Parnell and husband, Tim of Parkton; nine grandchildren, Tyler H. Sutherland, James A. Sutherland III, Mary Katherine MacRae, James C. MacRae, III, Claire D. MacRae, Samuel H. MacRae, Jr., Cameron W. Parnell, Anne Marie Parnell, Timothy Scott Parnell, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth MacRae Halsey and husband, Charles. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy MacRae and sister, Marceline MacRae Vallery. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church at 3 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2014 with Rev. Robert Alves officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 pm prior to the service at the Kyle House at St. John's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or a Charity of one's choice.
