James Clarence Corbett (Jimmy), 61, of Winnabow, NC, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 8, 2012.

He was born on August 31, 1951, in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Charles Sprunt Corbett and Tiny Jo Noble Corbett.

Jimmy retired from Dak Americas, formerly Dupont, where he was an I & C mechanic and was currently working at the Progress Energy Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant with BWB. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, carpentry and gardening. Jimmy grew up in Ivanhoe, NC, where he was a member of Black River Presbyterian Church and also the Ivanhoe Hunting Club. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Known as a kind, considerate and compassionate man, Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving is his wife, Eva Barbee Corbett; daughter, Tia Corbett Hazel and husband James; sons, Robert W. Corbett and wife Melissa, and Daniel L. Corbett and wife Lori; grandchildren, Emily, Ravendawn and Malenarose; brothers, C. Sprunt Corbett and wife Charlene and Harold Corbett; sister, Judy Dalton and husband William; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 pm at Black River Presbyterian Church in Ivanhoe, NC, with Rev. Paul Layton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
