Jewel Armour Gourley, 90, of Carolina Beach, NC, died Thursday, November 8, 2012, at her home.

She was born in Chester County, TN on April 11, 1922, to Finley and Lora Armour.

After attending business college, she went to work for Western Union, and traveled extensively during that employment. She eventually made her home in Winston-Salem, NC. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Hyman H. Levine, DDS.

She was married to the late Edward Gourley. They made their home at Carolina Beach where Mrs. Gourley had a gift shop for many years. She belonged to St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley and Lora Amour; her husband, Ed Gourley; two brothers, Velt and Pat Armour; and four sisters, Hazel Luckey, Robbie Hearn, Mozelle Peeples and Martha Morrison. She has one surviving brother, Doyle Armour of Henderson, TN, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pastor Shawn Blackwelder will officiate.
