JUDGE JOHN JOSEPH
Judge John Joseph Carroll III of Hampstead, the son of John Joseph Carroll II and the late Barbara M. Carroll passed away unexpectedly on May 25 2011, after a short hospital stay.
He is survived by his loving wife Charlene Hudson Carroll and his 4 children, Nancy Nicole, Maura Rosaleen, John Joseph IV, and Barbara Grace all of the home. He is also survived by 5 sisters and 1 brother and several nieces and nephews.
Judge John Carroll served in the US Army from 1987 to 1992. He then served in the US Army reserves from 1992 to 2005. He was reactivated from 2005 to 2006 to serve in Iraq, where he received the Bronze Star
. Then upon his return home he continued to serve in the reserves until his passing. From 1996 until present he served as a District Court Judge in New Hanover and Pender County, during that time he served as Chief District Court for several years.
He had friends from all walks of life. He was an encourager and a mentor to countless individuals. He loved the law and serving those it protected. He was truly a great man and more than serving his country and the people of his community and upholding the laws to which he dedicated his life, he cared only that his family had the best of everything. A selfless man, he continued to care and think of others until his passing.
He was blessed by God and we are at peace to know he is in the arms of his Saviour.
We love you Dad.
