Kimberly Ann Batchelor, of Hampstead, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 7, 2013 after a long courageous fight with a rare form of cancer, leptomeningeal-oligodendrogliomatosis.

Kimberly was a student at Topsail Middle School. She was an avid N.C. State Wolfpack fan and enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She also loved the outdoors and going to school, maintaining her place on the A Honor Roll even throughout her battle with cancer.

She is survived by her mother, and stepfather, Trent Talbert; sister, Katelyn, brother, Justin; stepbrothers, Cole and Issac Talbert; paternal grandparents, Ray and Phyllis Batchelor; maternal grandmother, Pat Rogers; uncles, Brian Parker, Chase Rogers, and Kevin Batchelor (wife, Mindy); cousins, Megan and Ashley Batchelor; and her very special C-PAL friend, Megan Shea, who spent endless hours with Kimberly during her days in Chapel Hill.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. John Hipps and the staff at Chapel Hill for the continuous care that was given to Kimberly and to Lower Cape Fear Hospice who were with her in the last month. Also, a special acknowledgement to all the Fighting For Kimberly (FFK) family members for their love, dedication and support.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road in Wilmington.
