Martha Love Batson Hinson, 77, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Vidant Duplin Hospital, Kenansville, NC. She was born January 26, 1935 in Burgaw, NC, the daughter of the late Thomas Herman Batson and the late Jessie Alberta Jordan Batson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Larry Gordon Hinson, brothers Thomas Russell Batson, Donald McKay Batson and Julian Ray Batson, and sisters Virginia Lee Wynnick and Laurice Annette Batson Reid.

She is survived by her three children, Kenny Hinson and wife, Kim, of Four Oaks, NC, Tony Hinson and wife, Darcy, of Beulaville, NC, Lisa Hinson Kearney and husband, Larry, of Beulaville, NC; brother Edward John "EJ" Batson and wife, Bonnie, of Wilmington, NC; sisters Carolyn Batson Evans of Wilmington, NC, and Peggy Batson Singleton and husband, Don, of Conway, SC; as well as three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many orphanage sisters and brothers, particularly Billy and Peggy Griffin of Cary, NC and Doris Horne of SC.

Martha and Larry Hinson were charter members of the United Methodist Church in Beulaville, NC. In 1955 Martha graduated from Mott Business College with a diploma as an Executive Secretary. She was a life-long avid sports fan, playing softball with a women's recreational league well into her fifties. For many years she was an active member with the East Duplin High School Booster Club. She loved fishing, playing horse-shoes, and volunteering her time to better her community, serving with the Beautification Club and the Greater Beulaville Revitalization Society.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 7:00 pm at Community Funeral Home, Beulaville, NC, followed by visitation. Graveside services will be Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11:00 am at East Duplin Memorial Gardens, Beulaville, NC.
