Miriam Luper Becher passed away January 5, 2013 at the age of 87 with her family by her side in Cumming Georgia.

She was born August 20, 1925 in Fairmont, North Carolina to Heber and Nora Warwick. When she was sixteen, her family moved to Carolina Beach, North Carolina where she became known as a "Jitterbug" by many friends at New Hanover High School. Her love of music and dancing was important throughout her life.

In the years that followed, she married Jack Luper, had a daughter Pam, moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, worked as a bookkeeper in her husbands CPA firm, and became a great golfer.

After Jack passed away, she married Robert Becher of Greensboro, North Carolina and relocated to Duck, N.C. where she enjoyed fishing and continued to play golf. Eventually they moved to Carolina Beach, N.C.

Miriam loved her family and friends. She was known for her great sense of humor and keen wit.

Her accomplishments included active involvement in civic work with the Lions Club, and as a member of the Toastmaster Club. She was Ladies Golf Club Champion at Benvenue Country Club during her time in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Her years on the Outer Banks of North Carolina were filled with family, family, fishing and golf. She was a Club Champion of Duck Woods Golf Club for a number of years there.

While living at Carolina Beach she was active in the golf community. She was Ladies Champion at The Cape Golf Club for several years and participated in many golf tournaments throughout the Southeast. During this time, she was active in the North Carolina Ladies Golf Association and over the years, made five holes in one.

Miriam is survived by her daughter, Pamela Luper Smith, husband, James and three grandchildren, Randall, Todd, and Erin; her sister, Angela Warwick Neville and her husband Graham; and her brother, Milton Warwick and his wife, Mary Ann, as well as several nieces and nephews she is also survived by her stepdaughter, Roberta Becher Evans, husband Webb Evans, and their children along with her stepson, Jim Becher, and wife, Connie along with their children.
