ROLAND VICTOR "VIC" GODWIN Roland Victor "Vic" Godwin 63 of Wilmington NC passed away unexpectedly January 2, 2018. He was the son of Ebe W. Godwin , Sr. and the late Janet H. Godwin. He is survived by his father Ebe Sr. (Who he cherished and spoke with every day), his brother Ebe Godwin Jr., and his sisters Rachel Thompson and Nancy Kauffman. Also survived by one niece, six nephews, three great nephews, and his friend Jeremy. Vic attended Carolina Military Academy and graduated New Hanover High School. He worked at Godwin Oil, Godwin Lumber, and Godwin Concrete from which he retired. Vic will be remembered for being a very good hearted person and a special friend to his friends. He will be missed greatly by his friends and neighbors the Chadwick's and Judge Gary Trawick, and his loving pet and companion Daisy Mae. Vic enjoyed cooking and sharing his special pot roast with his friend and neighbors who in turn shared back with him. In his retirement years Vic enjoyed buying, restoring and selling cars, as well as racing them. Vic also enjoyed flying his plane and was thrilled to invite his mother to fly his plane alongside with him. Other hobbies included his champion retriever Ginger and her trainer who prepared her for field trials where Vic had great pride in her success. Hunting and fishing was enjoyed with family and friends. Nobody loved a cigarette, a Natural Light, and conversation with a friend more than Vic. In Vic's last few years he struggled with declining health. He will forever be greatly missed and loved. A Memorial Service will be held 4PM on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Andrews Market Street Chapel with visitation starting at 3PM until the service hour. Vic was a great friend of the Henry family. I enjoyed our many meetings at any time. He was like a book of knowledge; and one you were not to judge by the cover!! He will be missed, and please accept my condolences!

Please accept my sincere condolences. I haven't seen Vic since high school. He was always so sweet and a pleasure to be around. I remember spending many a summer night in Wrightsville Beach at Hugo's or at the Wits End sitting around listening to music and laughing with friends, and Vic was always there too, making us laugh until we hurt. That's how I'll always remember him.
May you all find comfort in this time of sorrow.

May the Lord bless and comfort you at this time. We will miss Vic's phone calls visits and his horn blowing one time when going to Burgas and two times when he was heading home. He said that way I could know where he was. Our hearts are broken as I know yours are too. P

Vic sure will be missed. He use to come up to my parents when we got together and fix him a plate of food to take home. Later on when his health got worse we would fix him a plate and take to him. He would go to my parents house and talk to them. He sure missed his mom. He would go and talk to my mom since his mom wasmt here anymore. My mom would do the mother role and talk to him amd she would tell him to straighten up so he could see his mom again one day. We will sure miss you. Mom misses you calling everyday to check in. Stag Park wont be the same anymore. RIP Vic and until we meet again take care. I know you are enjoying talking to your mom.

I am so sorry to hear about Vic. Although I haven't seen him in years, I remember he was sweet and kind and a good friend. When he was in school in Winston-Salem, he and I used to talk on the phone daily. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. I will keep you in my prayers. May the love of friends and family and the Lord comfort you, and the memories of Vic keep him alive in your hearts.
