Ruth McNight Barber

RUTH MCNIGHT BARBER Ruth McKnight Barber, 99, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on January 11, 1915 to George Locke McKnight and Pearl Harris McKnight. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Greir McKnight, Mason Harris McKnight, James Earl McKnight and George Locke McKnight, Junior and her sisters, Martha McKnight White, Mary McKnight and Elizabeth McKnight Johnston and Sarah McKnight. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Barber Dunn and husband Frank Edward Dunn (Dee) of Wilmington. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Susan Mebane Franco and husband Alan of Atlanta, Patricia Mebane Schoettelkotte (Sissy) and husband Bill of Wilmington, Elizabeth Mebane Farmer (Betsy) and husband Eric of Charlotte, and William Carter Mebane IV (Billy) and wife Sarah of Wilmington. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, Sarah Carter, Mary Banks and Ben Farmer, Caroline, Elizabeth and Carter Franco, and Cricket, Clay and Locke Schoettelkotte and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was educated in the Mooresville City Schools. She worked for Citizens Savings and Loan for over twenty years until her retirement. Ruth loved her family, friends and church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all. She was a lifetime member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 15. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Memorials may be made to the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Cornelia Nixon Davis Community or Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Ruth's family would like to express their gratitude to the Davis Community and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the loving care she and her family received.
