Wendy died from cancer on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. At her request, a brief service will be private.
Although she had other careers, Dr. Keir finished as a school-based therapist who successfully helped children cope with family problems and personal problems.
Before her illness took it toll, she was pleasant and funny, says the person who knew her best. She liked movies, bicycling, the beach, and Scrabble. From widespread endeavors earlier, she had friends in many states.
During her illness her main caregivers were Charlotte Buckley, Miriam Fennell, Diana Seidle, Dean Weber, and Aden Windham.
Although short of health and energy from her condition Wendy had an overpowering drive to do everything herself because she couldn't trust her minions to do it right. She ran a micromanaging one-woman operation with no delegating and was truly the very best at getting things done.
She is survived most notably by Ashley, her rescued dog, who gave her unending love and delight.
