Ruby Stanley Bartholow, 90, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at her home early Easter morning, Sunday, March 31, 2013.
She was born September 7, 1922, on her family's farm in Ash, NC. She was the daughter of the late John Worth Stanley and Mary Tency Stanley.
Ruby was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was very proud of her family and loved each and every one of them dearly. If anyone she knew was ever in need, she would be there for them, if she could, to help them out. Ruby enjoyed gardening, water aerobics, sewing, and cooking. She was very active in her church and loved her friends who would come by for a visit or to sing to her. She sought comfort in her Daily Affirmations and her Bible, and felt called to do God's will on this earth. Ruby was small in stature, great in heart, and one who leaves many happy memories for each of us to cherish.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Donivan Bartholow, Sr., a daughter, Rose Ann King, and a son, Stanley Wayne Bartholow.
Survivors include one son, Sidney Donivan Bartholow, Jr. of San Luis Obispo, CA; a brother, Newman Stanley of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Crystal Meares of Wilmington, NC; seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted 11 AM, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A private burial will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the John B. Gause Cemetery in Ash, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Church, 4815 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC.
