ALAN SHANE HOLDEN 41, died peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Born October 20, in Wilmington, NC to parents J. Alan Holden and Dianne W. Holden Simon. In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his children Curren, Morrea, and Kealani Holden and their mother, Dore Lelepali Holden. Shane was the grandson of the late John F. and Johnsie Holden and J. Harry White. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mary S. White. Other family members who will cherish his memory include his aunt, Harriet W. Hemphill and husband Teak; Uncle Bobby White and wife, Cheryl; Aunt Sylvia Alexiou and husband, Aleck; Uncle Lyn Holden and wife, Judy. Special first cousins include Keane Bellamy, Jason White, Sherry Holden Durham, Leslie Holden Williams, Robin Holden Carson, and Josh Holden; stepfather Randy Simon. Shane loved and was much loved by his large extended family. Shane was a lifelong resident of Holden Beach who enjoyed watersports especially surfing and fishing. He attended Shallotte Middle School, McCaullie Preparatory School in Tennessee, and Patterson School in Lenoir, NC. He was a graduate of Mt. Olive College with a degree in criminal justice. Shane worked as an active broker in the family business Alan Holden Vacations, ReMax At The Beach, and Alan Holden Realty. His professional designations included GRI (Graduate of Realtor's Institute) and e-Pro. As a child, Shane was baptized at Concord Methodist Church in Supply, NC and continued to follow his personal relationship with the Lord throughout his life. All who knew him willingly agree that nothing was more important than his children, family, and friends. Visitation will begin at 11:30am on Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Holden Beach Chapel, located at 107 Rothschild St.(beside Town Hall), Holden Beach, NC 28462 followed by a memorial service at the same location beginning at 1:00 pm. A "Paddle Out Memorial Service" for Shane will be held at the Holden Beach fishing pier at 5:00pm following the 1:00pm chapel service. Memorial may be made in Shane's memory to the Holden Beach Chapel Building Fund. Private online condolences may be sent to the family at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte.
