HATTIE EVELYN BENSON Kenansville - Hattie Evelyn Benson, 94, of Kenansville passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Parrish Family Care Home. Mrs. Benson was born in Duplin County April 6, 1919 to the late Clement and Clarissa Jane Wiggins Sullivan. Mrs. Benson attended and graduated from B. F. Grady School within 10 years. She was married to the late Archie D. Benson Sr. and worked many years as bookkeeper for their logging company. She was a member of the Sarecta Free Will Baptist Church, the Sarecta Free Will Baptist Church Auxiliary and the Home and Garden Club. Mrs. Benson is survived by daughter, Kempie B. Riley and husband, Dennis of Warsaw; son, Archie D. Benson II of Dunn; daughter-in law, Jorecka Allen Benson granddaughters, Reccia S. Phillips and husband, Alan of Warsaw and Tiffany B. Taylor and husband, Billy of Bowden; grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Lakanne Taylor, Madison Phillips, Zach Taylor, and McKenzie Taylor; sister, Ruby Rutledge of Raleigh and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by son, Denny M. Benson, brothers, Leslie Sullivan, Swindell Sullivan, Wesley Sullivan, and David Sullivan; sisters Adelena S. Proctor and Ina M. Swinson. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw. Burial will follow in the Devotional Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00pm Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Community Funeral Home. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the ladies at Parish Family Care Home, who cared for Ms. Evelyn, 24-7-365. It was that personal, caring touch in the daily care she received from Betty, Taniasa, Tina, Danielle, Courtney, and Sharon Parish that added quality to her daily life. The family also wishes to thank Angie with home health, Kendall and the rest of the Hospice staff for all they did to make sure Ms. Evelyn was as comfortable as possible during her waning days. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Free Will Baptist Children's Home in Middlesex, NC. A service of Community Funeral Home of Warsaw.
