HELEN ELLIS Helen Blanton Ellis, of Wilmington, passed away on her 71st birthday, August 6, 2018 at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove. She was born on August 6, 1947 in Wallace to the late James Cameron Blanton and Mary Magdalene Johnson Blanton. She loved to read, to plant flowers in her garden, a lover of the ocean, listening to Celine Dion, crafts, traveling to visit her brother Gene but mostly she loved her children. As a mother and a childcare teacher for 16 years nothing made her happier than caring for others. Helen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Allen James (Chip) Ellis; her six children, James William (Billy) Aycock, Jr., Cheryl Ellis Shannon and significant other Brian Myrick, Crystal Ellis, Carrie Marie Houston and significant other Michael Wrenn, Terrie Garner and Shane Shaffer, all of Wilmington; her five grandchildren, Jason Douglas Shannon, Charlee Brooke Aycock, Joshua Taylor Houston, Isabella Grace Preacher and Elijah Michael Preacher; her great granddaughter, Kynlee Renee Shannon; her brother, Gene Blanton and wife Carolyn of California; many nieces and nephews and a lot of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters Betty and Bobby and her brother Stanley. A visitation will be held from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd. Wilmington followed by a Celebration of Life at River Road Park from 1-5pm at 6500 River Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.
