Helene "Andy" Johnson, age 91, of Goldsboro passed away Wednesday morning at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington. She was born in Indianola, PA to the late John and Anna Anderson.

After graduating from high school, Andy joined the United States Marine Corp. and served in San Francisco during World War II. During this time, she met her husband, Ray Ingwald Johnson, and they married on August 26, 1944. They moved back to Goldsboro where Andy worked in Quality Control at General Electric and Ray worked for CP&L where they retired. They were married for 56 years prior to his passing away in 2000.

She was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger and would always help those in need. A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, she served on various Church Guilds. She prayed for healing and hope for many friends and families by adding their names to her Prayer log. This special log has grown very thick throughout the years.
