JAMES C. MAHONY James Christopher Mahony died at home in Wilmington on June 13th, surrounded by family. He was 85 years old. He rejoins his wife of 53 years, Peggy Mahony, who passed away just months ago. James was born in Plainfield, NJ to Alma and James Mahony. He is survived by his only sibling, Jean Errico of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. They grew up in Westfield, NJ and Brooklyn NY. James graduated from Columbia University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and went on to have a long career with US Customs in Miami, FL and later Wilmington NC, retiring as District Director in 1988. James' interests included UNCW Baseball, the Master Gardener program and being a blood donor with the Red Cross for many years. In addition to his sister Jean, James is survived by a son, Joseph Mahony and son in law Vincent Lawsin, daughter Sharon Mahony and son in law Miguel Barasorda and two grandchildren, James and Alma Barasorda. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Saturday August 11th at 2pm at the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk on Wrightsville Beach.
