James Doyle Coleman, age 80, of Currie, died Monday, November 19, 2012, at Brunswick Cove Living Center.

He was born April 18, 1932, in Bauxite, Arkansas, son of the late Will T. Coleman and Gladys Weaks Coleman Simpson. He was also predeceased by a son Michael Coleman, sisters Louise Lane, Bobby Chestnut, Evelyn Peturn, and brother, Waldon Coleman.

James was a veteran having served honorably in the United States Air Force. He was regional manager of W. R. Grace fertilizer company. James loved to fish and work in his garden.

He is survived by his wife Norma Deal Coleman, a daughter Michelle Woodcock and husband Jody of Atkinson; five sons, Charles Embler and fiancé Christine of Wilmington, Scott Embler and wife Michelle of New Jersey, Sean Embler and wife Jessica of Kentucky, Terry Embler and wife Rachel of Raleigh, and James C. Coleman and wife Jennifer of Castle Hayne; 19 grandchildren; a brother Kenneth Coleman and wife Sue of Stanfield, NC; a sister Willene Beard and husband Melvin of AL; sister-in-law Marge Coleman of AL; mother and father-in-law Verna and Bob Mills of Statesville, NC; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Woodcock Cemetery in Atkinson. Reverend Steve Gasque will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors accorded by the United States Air Force.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Harrell's Funeral Home.
