JAMES MONROE

MARSHBURN

James Monroe Marshburn, age 75, of Wallace, left this earthly life for his eternal rest to be with Jesus Christ his Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

He was born January 28, 1937, in Bladen County, the son of the late Samuel Alexander Marshburn, Sr. and Clayton Lee Marshburn Allen of Tomahawk. He was also predeceased by his sister, Emmalene Morgan and brothers, Alton Marshburn, Samuel Marshburn, Jr. and Milton Marshburn.

Monroe was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Wallace where he served as a deacon, a member of the Baptist Men, Keen Agers and the Sonshine Choir. He was also a member of the Duplin Camp of Gideons International, a life member of the Wallace Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Wallace Rescue Squad. With a loving heart and giving spirit, he was a volunteer with the NC Baptist Men and Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Monroe worked with JP Stevens in Wallace for 20 years. He was the owner of Montgomery Ward and Ward Service Center in Wallace for 17 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, growing vegetables to share with others and going on mission trips. Monroe loved his Lord, his family and his church, which was his life. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his fishing buddies. Known lovingly as "Granddaddy No-No" and "Uncle Ro-Ro", he was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. A man of great integrity, Monroe will be missed by all who knew him. His friends and family are comforted knowing that he has moved on from this life to a much fuller one he now has with Jesus his Lord throughout eternity.
