James Reginald "Reggie" Holderfield, age 70, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully on December 5, 2012 surrounded by his family at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill after a short hard fight with cancer that led to vascular complications.
Reggie was born May 25th, 1942 in Raleigh, NC to Dorothy Dean Holderfield and the late James Milton Holderfield. He grew up in Charlotte, NC and attended Myers Park Elementary, Sedgefield Junior High, Myers Park High School and Hargrave Military Academy. He also attended Wingate and Campbell Universities.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara Boone Holderfield. He is also survived by his two loving daughters, Paige Holderfield Anderson of Greensboro, NC, and Tracy Holderfield Tisdale, her husband Trescott Wright Tisdale,II of Wilmington, NC and his mother Dorothy Dean Holderfield of Autumn Care Wilmington, NC. His three cherished grandchildren, Brooks Anderson, Wright and Ansley Tisdale. There are also a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Reggie was retired after 40 years of success in the Construction Equipment Industry. His proudest accomplishments were his 49 plus years with Barbara and his children and grandchildren.
Reggie loved and was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed golf, fishing and crusing anywhere in his beautiful Simmons Skiff that he spent many long hours restoring. He was awesome dancer, loved beach music, road trips and parties. His personality lit up the room wherever he was. No one who knew Reggie will ever forget his happy cackling laugh. Reggie never met a stranger.
Special thanks to Reggie's sister in law Jean B. Hill, first cousins, Eric Tannery and Thomas Joyner and second cousin Don Ward. Your compassion and support was so appreciated and special.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life on December 15, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
