Jimmie Spraker Obituary
Mr. Jimmie Hanson Spraker, Sr., age 78, of 137 Noonkester Drive, Mt. Airy, NC, husband of Mrs. Rosalie West Spraker passed away Thursday morning, July 23, 2009, at his home. He was born January 30, 1931, in Koehlar, VA, to the late Henry and Virgie Stoneman Spraker. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He was a recipient of 10 military metals including a purple heart and four battle stars. He was the maintenance supervisor for Pinnacle Hill Apartments, Carolina Christian Village and Carolina Apartments. Mr. Spraker attended the First Presbyterian Church in Pilot Mountain.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Rosalie W. Spraker of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Seretta and Felix Cebral, Castle Hayne, NC, Lisa and Greg Morgan, Mt. Airy, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie H, Spraker, Jr. and Sandra, Miami, FL, Thomas Spraker and Carolyn, Lambsburg, VA, John Spraker and Wanda, Rocky Point, NC; 9 grandchildren, Melinda Dowding, Angela Spraker-Trivette, Scott Spraker, T.J. Spraker, Zachary Spraker, Christina Cebral-Jones, Kelly Spraker, Austin Morgan and Ashley Morgan; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren, Jonathan Poteat, Brandon Poteat, Jason Newman. Leandro Baez, and Indira Baez; 7 step great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Nancy Spraker, Martinsville, VA, Alvin and Edith Spraker, Rocky Mount, VA, Donald and Violet Spraker, Rocky Mount, VA and Frederick Spraker, Bassett, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spraker was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Hall and Millie Spraker, and by three brothers, Erron, Elmo and Gray Spraker.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy. A full military graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Field of Honor at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends 1:30-3:00PM Saturday at Moody Funeral Home.

I know losing a parent is incredibly sad. It is a sadness that lingers on. I lost my dad 2 years ago & although, the tears do not follow as easily the missing goes on & on.
