JULIA "JUDY" ROGERS Judy was a rare find, a true Wilmington native. She was born January 2, 1929, the daughter of the late Julia Oneida Capps and Douglas Linwood Pridgen, Sr. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1947, then married her love, Herchel, in 1950. Together they built a legacy of love and faith throughout their 56 year marriage, raising 3 children and spending time with their beloved grandchildren. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Judy, who never knew a stranger, served as a positive role model, an inspiration and generously shared her love and humor with everyone she met. She learned to dance at an early age and enjoyed dancing her entire life, winning numerous competitions with her favorite dance partner, Herchel, often while traveling to exotic locations with a group of lifelong friends. She spent countless hours enjoying the beach at her beloved Hanover Seaside Club, luncheons with her Red Hat Club and dancing with the senior dance group well into her 80's. Judy will forever be remembered as slight in stature, but big in personality! #sassypants Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Herchel E. Rogers, Sr., son, H. Evans Rogers, Jr., brother, Douglas L. Pridgen, Jr. and lifelong friend, Faydene S. Corbett. She was survived by her sister, Adelaide Lane, daughters, Stephanie A. Rogers (Bill Arguto) and J. Susan Rogers (Ed Quidley); grandchildren, J. Alexandria Vann, Houston A. Vann (Romy), Greyson E. Rogers and Corbett W. Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews.
