Luther "Luke" Bradford Black, Jr., 57, of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
He was born January 26, 1955, in Fayetteville, NC, to the late Luther Bradford and Mary Faircloth Black.
Luke retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of employment. He was also a Realtor and broker for Bowman's Real Estate and then with Network Real Estate. He was an artist who loved watercolor paintings and was a member of the Art Society. Luke was affiliated with First Baptist Church as well as Impact Church. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father who loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a 2-day old daughter, Katie.
Survivors include his wife, of 18 years, Angela Daniels Black; sons, Luther Bradford "Brad" Black III and wife Catherine Dorin-Black of Chapel Hill, NC, Matthew Corey Black of Charlotte, NC, Seth Allen Black of the home and Nicholas "Cole" Ryan Black also of the home; aunt, Pearl Tyndall of Fayetteville, NC; Mother-in-law, Judy Smith Daniels "MaMaw"; sister-in-law, Deborah Miller and husband Zach; niece, Mackenzie and nephews, Zachary and Fisher.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC with Dr. Jim Everett and Pastor Donnie King officiating. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Garden.
Those wishing to honor Luke's memory may make donations to First Baptist Church or Impact Church.
