MAYSIE HOLBROOK ANDERSON Mayotta "Maysie" Holbrook Anderson, 41, of Wilmington, NC and Deer Isle, ME died in Charlottesville, VA on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 with her parents, William and Elana and her fiance', Frank Corcoran, at her bedside. Born November 27, 1971 in Boston, Maysie graduated from Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, NJ, Brown University (magna cum laude) and Duke Law School. Her junior year of college was spent at the University of Bologna, and she worked for UPI in Rome that summer. After college she worked for Peter Jennings and was the personal assistant to Conan O'Brien. She practiced law with firms in New York (Skadden Arps, Shearman &Sterling, and Orrick Herrington) before moving to New Hampshire to work for her cousin Brad Laslett's company, Smart Fuel. She then relocated to Wilmington to be with Frank and his children. She loved, nurtured and helped care for Holden, Anna, Dillon and Jack and in return, they loved her back. She is survived by them, her parents, her brother Spencer Anderson and his wife Francesca, her brother Jake Garrels, and her sister Eliza Childs and Eliza's husband Chris. Her nieces Anna and Maysie Childs and Penelope Anderson, and her nephew Hayden Childs also survive her, along with many devoted cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Maysie radiated humor and wit, and possessed a keen understanding of others and empathy for them. As was her grandmother Mayotta Dickinson Southworth, Maysie was "widely travelled, widely read and widely loved." She will be missed so much.
