Osborne Walls Obituary

OSBORNE KIRBY WALLS

Osborne Kirby Walls, joined his wife Catharine in loving embrace with His Lord and Savior on Monday December 20, 2010.

Born in Milford Del to Albert F. Walls and Lulu Kirby Walls on June 23, 1919.

He attended Augusta Military and the University of Delaware. While in ROTC joined the Delaware National Guard 198th Coastal Artillery - activated in 1941 and deployed as a gun sgt in the first major Task Force to depart the United States for the Pacific in January 1942. Returned to US in 1943 to attend OCS at Camp Davis NC and commissioned a 2LT of artillery.

He met and married the former Mary Catharine Bradshaw of Winter Park, NC in August 1943. After the war OK joined the NC National Guard and retired in 1963 as a LTC. He was the hardware manager for Sears Robuck until retirement and a proud member of the Pine Valley Country Club and Hanover Seaside Club, lifetime member of Wesley Memorial UMC and an associate member of Oleander UMC in Wilmington. He is survived by his three children; Col (Ret) Osborne K Walls, Jr. and wife Linda of Manassas, Va.; Albert Bradshaw and wife Ross of Wilmington and Christine C. Walls and Husband Mark McSweeney of Portland, Maine; his Grandchildren Kirby III of Austin Texas and Katherine of Raleigh, NC and 5 great grandchildren.

A remarkable man who loved his family and friends - he knew no enemies, and had a full and enjoyable life.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Andrew's Mortuary of Wilmington, NC. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the funeral home on December 22, 2010 followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in memory of OK to be made to the Yahweh Center Children's Village, PO Box 10399, Wilmington NC 28404.
