PANOS BOUBOULIS Panos Bouboulis, 87, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, with his children, Niko and Panagiota, by his side. Panos was born October 10, 1926 in Valtesinikon, Arkadias, Greece. He was the son of Reverend Nikolaos and Presbytera Eleni (Michopoulos) Bouboulis. He was raised in Nea Kios, Argos, Greece, and received his engineering diploma from the Queen's Nautical Engineering Technical School in Athens, Greece. Having survived World War II, he was a soldier in the Greek Civil War from 1946-1949. Panos was then a Merchant Marine until 1962, where he also served as a member of the Allied Forces during the Korean War. In 1962, upon a visit to the U.S., Panos met and married Rose (Kostakos) Bouboulis. They enjoyed a blessed union of 32 years, until Rose's passing in 1994. He was employed by Bendix Fluid Power Division / Allied Signal / Lucas Aerospace. He supported the Apollo Mission and upon his retirement in 1990, held the position of Inspector for Hughes Aircraft - noted for the quality control of the Apache Helicopter. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend, who never hesitated to share his wisdom. Always strong in his Greek Orthodox faith. He and his joy of living will be sorely missed. In addition to his parents, Nikolaos and Eleni, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Maria and Pavlo Mella, Lemonia and Demetrios Sapka, and Emilia and Elias Kostantopoulos. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, with a Trisagion prayer service at 7:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Panos' memory be made to: New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cardiac Care Unit, or Duke University Hospital, Research Centers, or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Brunswick County, or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wilmington, NC, or St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Myrtle Beach, SC.
