PATRICIA MALY MARSHBURN Patricia Maly Marshburn, "Pat", of Wilmington passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014. She was born in Minneapolis on July 3, 1933, the daughter of Dr. Henry W. and Ethyl R. Maly. Shortly thereafter, the Maly family returned to Colorado to reside in Colorado Springs where Pat grew up. Having loved her childhood times there, she often referred to the mountains of Colorado as "her mountains". Pat married Franklin King Marshburn of Wilmington in July of 1956. They lived and worked for many years in the areas of Washington DC and while there, they enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. After having lived in the DC area, Pat and King later settled in Wilmington where they resided for the rest of their lives. Pat did bookkeeping and accounting work for several local small businesses. Following the death of her husband King in 2001, she continued her bookkeeping work up until 2012. She was a Christian, a devoted wife, a loving friend, and she was loved by her families. Pat practiced her faith as a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Pat is survived by her three siblings and their families. Her oldest sister Joan Maly Bovard and her husband Dr. Charles Bovard live in Dallas, Texas. Their three children Christopher Bovard and wife Allison, John Bovard and wife Christina, and James Bovard also live in Dallas. Pat's next oldest sister Barbara Maly Madick lives in Redwood City, California. Barbara was married to Mr. Steven Madick up until the time of his passing. Pat's brother, Mr. Richard Maly and his wife Mary Jo live in Sacramento, California. Their two children are Elizabeth Maly Lindgren and husband J. Stanley of Radnor, Pennsylvania, and Edward Maly and wife Hilary Old of Brooklyn, New York. On her husband's side, Pat is survived by her nieces and nephews. They are Dr. Allen H. Van Dyke, Jr. and wife Perry of Wilmington; Judy Van Dyke Egg and husband Edward of Columbia, South Carolina; Michael Van Dyke and wife Ann of Charlotte, North Carolina; LeRoy Marshburn and wife Beverly of Kernersville, North Carolina; James Marshburn and wife Joan of Wilmington; and John Marshburn and wife Jodi of Wilmington. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 11:00am at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, North Carolina. Following the service, the family will be receiving friends at the home of Perry and Allen Van Dyke, 2121 Stillwater Place in Wilmington. Memorial donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be sent to Quinn McGowen Funeral Home: www.quinnmcgowen.com.
