Dear Judy, I heard of Richie's passing through his old friends and mine, Richie & Anne Colucci. I met Richie through his old friend know as Fish who I was dating and spent summer weekends at their house on Fire Island back in 1970 and became friends with Richie. He was called the "Big Guy" back in those days and his great & talented humor kept all the house guests in Fire Island laughing all summer. He was the MC at his self created Annual Fire Island Academy Awards which were true classics in itself and I hope he told you about them. I also saw him perform at Catch a Rising Star in NYC several times and he was always a great hit and his great humor always filled the room with laughter. Though its been 47 years since I last saw him, he was just that kind if person you can never forget. He was a kind, sweet and caring man and I'm sorry for your loss and for all his family and many friends. He'll be remembered and missed by all that knew him...a very special and unique man. RIP Big Guy. Sincere condolences, Carole Vilar

Dear Judy,
I remember clearly the day you told me that you had met someone-- and I remember meeting Richie for the first time at the fish restaurant on PCH and adoring him. I also remember being afraid to fly after 9/11 causing us to miss your wedding, which I have always regretted. Steve and I send you enormous hugs and love at this difficult time. I hope you can find some solace in the wonderful life you and Richie built together. Much love, Sheri and Steve

MATT MASTERMAN

March 4, 2017

Dear Judy, my name is Matt Masterman, Richie became my hero in OA at my first meeting in June 1991. He was the first person to come up to me at the meeting and welcome me as a newcomer. I remembered him from the movie Fatso and was amazed at his weight loss. He carried a well worn big book of AA and encouraged me to get one, which I did and lost 132 lbs in the next year. I lost touch with him when I moved to Florida to help my mom go from her 70's all the way up to 92 yrs of age. Richie's memory will always be with me and my prayers and graititude to him will also be with me everyday of my life. I'm sure you and his family know how much he gave to, and improved the world and it's people with his big heart. My condolences to you and your family. Please tell them how Richie helped me, so long ago, and things he taught me, have helped me have a wonderfully joyous life, including a loving relationship with my partner Wade, for the last 23 yrs. Much love from Florida, Matt Masterman. 561 740 9353 if there is ever anything I can do for you or your family. Matt.

All of us in L.A. who knew Richie, are so deeply saddened. Our thoughts and love are with you, Judy. You were such a gift to one another. May Richie's memory be for a blessing, and we all have such wonderful memories. He was a bright light in all of our lives. One day Richie and I discovered that we had lived on exactly the same block in the Bronx, Montgomery Avenue....only not exactly at the same time. We did know some of the same neighborhood characters though!! A very special coincidence. Sending love and prayers to you and all the family.

Judy,

Barbara and I would like to add our condolences on the loss of Richie.
My memories of him always bring a smile to my face. No matter the circumstances, although they were almost always positive, he always had had something interesting and fun to add, even if it was only talking football.

We'll keep him and you in our thoughts and prayers.
