Roy Allen Brewer, 82, of Wilmington, NC, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, at his home.

He was born in War, WV, on July 7, 1930, son of the late Walter Brewer and Emma Lou Patton Brewer.

Mr. Brewer retired from Estes Express Lines with thirty-six years of service and then worked with Food Lion for seven years. He later volunteered with Wilmington International Airport and New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-five years, Joyce Graham Brewer; daughter, Merita Faye Dinnauer and husband Michael of Oconomowoc, WI; sons, Robert Walter Brewer and wife Judy of Woodbridge, VA, Edward Lee Brewer and wife Donna of Spotsylvania, VA, Michael Allen Brewer of Vienna, VA, Howard Leslie Brewer and wife Laura of Stafford, VA, and William Thomas Brewer and partner Christopher Drago of Woodstock, IL; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joy Shelton of Chantilly, VA and Phyllis Dodson, of Grand Junction, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service in Chester, VA, will be held at a later time.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their kindness and concern in the care of Mr. Brewer and ask that any memorial gifts be directed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28401.
