TRAVIS DERRICK MODLIN

"ROACH"

OAK ISLAND -- Mr. Travis Derrick Modlin, age 25 of Oak Island, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Travis was born in New Hanover County on May 2, 1984. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing softball and football. He was a graduate of South Brunswick High School and attended Brunswick Community College. Travis will always be remembered for being a very loving and giving person.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Roberts and husband Art of Oak Island, his father, Larry T. Modlin and wife Jennifer of Boiling Spring Lakes; a brother, Chad Modlin and wife Sarah of Oak Island; step-brother, Matt Blaser of Stormville, NY; a sister, Ashley Roberts of Oak Island; step-nephew, Brian Blaser; grandparents, Ed and Glynne Whitley of Hamilton, NC, Hester Modlin of Frostproof, Florida, Barbara Roberts of Battlecreek, Michigan; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family.

A service to celebrate Travis's life will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 7:00 pm at Ocean View United Methodist Church with Pastor Fred Roberts officiating.

My "baby boy" may be gone from this life, but he will remain alive in the hearts of each of you. I have a huge hole in me, yet I burst with pride when anyone acknowledges that I was Travis' father. Get on the organ donor list, and please wear your seatbelt.
