WALKER G. "BLUE" JOYE

Walker G. "Blue" Joye, 77, of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on February 6, 1936, the son of the late Luther Lemuel and Dossie Aline Snipes Joye. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Farrar Joye, two brothers, Lemuel Levern Joye and James Leslie Joye; and a sister, Beatrice Joye Taylor.

Blue retired as a TSGT from the US Air Force after 20 years of service and retired again after a second career with GE. He loved the game of golf and especially enjoyed the time spent with his "Golf Buddies". Blue was a faithful care giver to his wife for many years prior to her death.

Surviving are two sisters, Ola Ramona Joye Capps of Wilson and Doris Joye Phillips and husband Wayne of Hampstead, NC; two brothers, Albert Maurice Joye and wife Letha of Wilmington, Wendy Joye and wife Kim of Wilmington; special friends Pat Mintz and Kathy Blaisdale. Blue was the beloved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a special note of thanks to Scott Farrar and family for all their love, care and support. They also want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in ICU and CCU at NHRMC.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with Rev. Danny Justice officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Andrews Mortuary Market Chapel.
