LEE E. HUDSON
Lee Edward Hudson, 84, of Carolina Beach, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2012, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center under Hospice Care.
He was born in Benson, NC, on March 17, 1928, to the late John Casper and Clyda Bell Hudson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Eileen Elizabeth Hudson and two children: Timothy Lee Hudson and wife Laraine of Danville, IN; and Cynthia Hudson Doran and husband Peter of Kure Beach, NC. Lee is also survived by five grandchildren: Andrea Renee Schweizer and husband Aaron with great grandchild Lariana Renee; Jared Lee Hudson; Austin Marshall Doran; Marshall Hudson Doran; and Mallory Romaine Doran. Lee was brother to four sisters (one deceased) and one brother.
Lee served our country honorably as a flight mechanic in the Air Force before retiring in 1967 after 20 years of distinguished service. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he began a second career as an electrician at Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Kokomo, IN. He retired from there in 1980 and moved back to North Carolina where he could pursue his love of fishing at Carolina Beach.
Lee was a master at engineering and 'fixing' things, creating many new contraptions to help him in his pursuit of catching fish. He loved sitting by the surf with his fishing pole, whether the fish were biting or not. An avid baseball fan, he spent many hours watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. But above all, he was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 20th, at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Carolina Beach with Rev. Curtis Campbell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation and LifeCare Center, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401-7665.
