James Buren Crowley, 87, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

He was born in Wilmington on November 3, 1925. His parents were the late Rev. Jeremiah Stephen Crowley and Edith Sidbury Crowley. He was preceded in death by brothers Jasper S. Crowley, George W. Crowley, and John W. Crowley.

James grew up in Wilmington. A proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps, James served during World War II. Retired from US Steel Corporation, James spent most of his career in Venezuela. He enjoyed golf and taught all of his children the game.

James is survived by six children, J. David Crowley (Diane), John S. Crowley (Martha), Elizabeth E. Crowley (Ginny), Mia Crowley-Hald (Chris), Anne C. Wrenn (Danny), and Paul D. Crowley (Kelly); their mother, Dolores T. Crowley; seven grandchildren; sister, Edith C. Batson (Arthur dec.); brother, Robert N. Crowley (Lynda); sisters-in-law Mildred, Ruby, and Johnsie; and his nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a private service celebrating James's life.
