Nancy, Drew and Dillon. Some of my favorite memories are of me sitting at the bar of Foster's Grille in Manassas when you guys all would come in midday to see Shawn. We moved away from Virginia about 6 years ago but Foster's Grille is still in our hearts. I only found out today about Shawn's passing, I dearly miss Shawn's friendship and companionship. Please know that the Huffman family is holding you in our hearts and in our prayers. Shawn was a great influence in our kids lives as they grew up at the bar in Foster's Grille. Nancy, Drew and Dillon, You have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news of Shawn's passing. Some say we lose the loved, so that they leave lessons for the living. Nance,Drew & Dillon. I am still trying to find words to express the sorrow of the loss of a husband,father friend & best man at our wedding. It's been a month and everyday I think of the great times & experiences we have all had over the last 30 years from Philly, to the both of us hitting royal flushes in Vegas on the same day to Atlanta where you took us 4 wheeling in the red mud with a 2 wheel drive vehicle and bald tires to Va and NC. Now all as we have left is the memories and stories of the Chef who has left us all way to early.You will be truly missed my friend.

My family loves Foster's Grille. Little did I know that its founder lives in my hometown of Wilmington, NC. I am so sorry to read of Shawn's death in the McLean Patch. Foster's is a tradition after sports games with my four boys. The grilled cheeses are my favorite and the boys love the burgers, fries and milkshakes. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Terrible. We have been Fosters people since we discovered him in Bethesda. We ate at his location in the Sudley shopping center for years. When I was pregnant with my daughter I ate Fosters hot dogs during my last trimester, and when my daughter starting blowing the scale on the growth charts, we "blamed" Fosters hot dogs. Deepest condolences to all the Fosters family members.

Shawn and I were pretty good buds in high school and later worked together at Delia's Restaurant in East Aurora while he was still going to school to be a chef. Shawn was a great friend and an awesome chef. R.I.P. my friend.

Nancy, I was so sorry to hear about Shawn. I remember him from the time he was little and lived down the street.There were the hockey games out front with the Gunn boys, Sullivans, McKees, Hibbs and Shawn - so much yelling and fighting but they became good friends. He'll be missed.

We are so sorry for the your loss of Shawn at such a young age. I can only hope that your found memories of him will someday ease your pain. I fondly remember Shawn and his wife Nancy whenever they rode up to my family's juke joint "Park Place" on rte 29 in Gainesville, VA. Shawn Foster was always a larger than life character and some of my most cherished memories will of those times we would spend with the boys, Nancy and Shawn. Foster family: Shawn was part of our lives while Drew played soccer for VSA Heat. His generousity to the team, community was amazing! I remember volunteering at our team's turn for the snack bar. He was always joking, smiling. He will be missed and remembered fondly.

I could write a book about the times we have shared. Who's going to steal flowers every week and bring them to me ? I saved all your sweet and silly notes you left on my desk over the years. I can hear your laugh and see your smile. I watched you as your boys turned into young men and how proud you were of them. Nancy, Drew and Dylan, I'm so very sorry for you loss. I found out this afternoon and just couldn't believe it. My husband and I was at the Fosters Grille in Bristow just this pass Sunday and all we spoke about was Shawn. What a coincident this had to be. Our VSA Heat family have always been grateful for what Shawn did for us at our fundraiser. He was a wonderful person. I remember when he coached the GDBA team when my Dylan was on his team and they went to the finals and we also had a soccer tournament. What fun and memorable times we would cherish.
