COL. ROBERT ALLAN "PETE" PREHN Pete Prehn left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on May 12, 2014. A service celebrating his life will be held at United Advent Christian Church 4912 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28412 at 12 noon on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Visitation with the family will be held in the church sanctuary on the same day from 11 AM until 12 PM. Pete was born in Leavenworth Kansas on July 23, 1928 to John and Grace Prehn. He was predeceased by his sisters Margie and Nancy, and his brother John. He is survived by one sister Dee Yeazel, of Kansas City, KS. Pete graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1946 and entered the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1951. He served his country for 32 years including tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam and the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Evelyn Carner, in 1951. He is survived by their three children: Robert Allan Jr., Ann Winston (Ammann) and David Chapin. He and Nancy later divorced. In the 70's Pete met Cathy Morgan at Fort Bragg and fell in love. They were married in 1979 at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Cathy has two children from a former marriage: Beverly Morgan Pintus and Gary Morgan. Pete retired from the Army in 1979 as a full Colonel and then joined Rappahannock Community College in Virginia as their Dean of Finance. After five years with the college, he and Cathy retired to her hometown of Wilmington NC where Pete enjoyed his third career as an actor, appearing in both television and movies. He and Cathy are members of United Advent Christian Church. He will be greatly missed by his wife Cathy, his children, numerous grand-children and great-grandchildren. He carried with him this quote on a scrap of paper in his wallet: "It is not about preparing for the coming storm. It is about learning to dance in the rain" which captures his view of life's journey. "Sleep well my love, sleep well." Memorial donations may be made to United Advent Christian Church, or to the .
