BRUCE WAYNE DESCHAMPS Bruce Wayne DesChamps, of Wilmington, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center. He was born in Savanah, GA, July 16, 1934 to the late Marshall and Ella DesChamps and was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hill DesChamps. He is survived by his son David DesChamps, daughter Margaret Seitter, granddaughter Ella Matthews DesChamps, and grandson Samuel Smith DesChamps. Bruce lived his entire life in Wilmington, graduating from New Hanover High School and attending the University of the South, Sewanee, TN and UNCW. He served in the US Army and then began a long career as a Real Estate Broker and Certified Real Estate Appraiser in Wilmington. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and a Deacon. He was a member of the Wilmington Regional Assn of Realtors, the Cape Fear Country Club, and the Carolina Yacht Club. He had also served on the boards of NC Appraisal Board, WHQR Public Radio, and Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. An avid boater and enthusiast of Wrightsville Beach, Bruce also had a fondness for music and was a supporter of the area's arts and cultural events. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow in Gilmour Hall. The family will receive friends at the home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center.
