BOBBIE ANN POOL FRANDANO Charlotte - Mrs. Frandano, 70, of Charlotte, passed away on August 1, 2014 at Legacy Heights Assisted Living. Bobbie was born in Georgia on May 25, 1944, daughter of the late Joseph D. and Mary (Astin) Pool. Growing up in Charlotte, Bobbie was a 1962 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School - she made countless genuine friendships, loved serving in student body leadership roles, adored being a cheerleader and was honored to be voted "Most School Spirit" as well as Homecoming Queen her senior year. Upon graduation, Bobbie attended the University of South Carolina. Her first day on campus, she met her husband, Peter Frandano, who was there on a football scholarship - the Southern Belle meets the Jersey Boy. They married in New Jersey and later returned to settle in Charlotte. Bobbie's dream of becoming a mother became a reality and after a career with American Can Company, she embraced her calling as a stay-at-home mom, always available to help her children and their schools in countless ways. Similarly, she delighted in being a grandma to four grandchildren who adored her, attending every sporting event or activity she could. Bobbie was active in her beloved, long-time parish of St. Gabriel, where she cherished the special friendships she made attending daily mass for years, as well as serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. The Bereavement Ministry she helped co-lead and the friendships that formed while serving had a very dear place in her heart, as she humbly sought to bring comfort to those mourning the loss of a loved one by serving them with Christ-like hospitality. Her love for that ministry (and the accolades for her special coconut cake) will live on...In between all of her volunteering, Bobbie occasionally liked to slip away to their beach home to enjoy the peace of the ocean and visit with her coastal friends. Bobbie is preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Jeff Pool and as well as her loving husband of 43 years, Peter Frandano. Left behind to celebrate her memory are her son, Pete Frandano and his companion Mary Soria, grandsons, John (15) and Joe (12) all who divide their time between Charlotte and the coast; daughter, Kathleen (Frandano) Franek and husband Rob, granddaughter, Rachel (16) and grandson, Adam (11) all of Waxhaw, NC; brother, Joe Pool and sister-in-law Sandra of Charlotte along with their daughter, Bobbie's niece Natalie (Pool) Crockford, her husband Mike and their daughter Gracie. Additionally, Bobbie's cousin Ann Hardin and her family, as well as her in-laws Paul and Denise Frandano, Anthony and Debbie Piccillo and all of their children who were Bobbie's niece and nephews are left behind to cherish her memory, as are a multitude of friends for whom she was very grateful. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Father Frank O'Rourke will be the celebrant. A short interment service will be held immediately following the mass. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Legacy Heights and Hospice Staff who treated Mrs. Frandano with the utmost of care and respect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Gabriel Parish Bereavement Ministry at 3016 Providence Rd.
