Time passes, but memories are always there , more alive than ever. I still remember, like it was yesterday, this young boy. He was 14 when I met him first, and almost every year I saw him again with his wonderful family. The last time we met was at Figure 8, he had just undergone surgery and he was recovering at his parents'. Dear Stephen, I will always remember you and will say a prayer to help continue resting in peace. From up there, you look down and see your two wonderful children, your parents, your brother John and his family . Everybody has been thinking of you, a great son, brother and dad. Lots of love to your family.

Dr Chiavetta was my wife's doctor and she thought the world of him. She cried so very hard when he passed. She trusted him more than anyone.

My prayer for a caring son and father. I have lots of memories of him, when he was 14, when he went to college and visited his dorm, They will remain in my heart.

Three years have passed since Stephen left his beloved family and his friends. I still remember meeting him when he was 14, a lively and happy boy. I hope he rests in peace now. My prayers for him and his family.

I met Stephen when he was 14. A nice young boy, and in the years that followed, I saw him and his family many times, hugged his adorable kids. He was a great human being, like his wonderful parents. I will add my prayers to those of the people that loved him, asking God to continue keeping him in his caring arms.

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Chiavetta family; especially his children. I worked with Dr. Chiavetta at Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic for 6 years. He was a wonderful, caring man and always put his patients first. Although I never understood why anyone who went to Duke pulled for that Carolina basketball team. But that's okay---He was a cutie pie and I will miss him. My prayers are with the family.

When I left Wilmington 10 years ago I asked Dr. Chiavetta for a referral to Chapel Hill, my new home. He provided a name saying, "He is 'for the patient' like I am." He was right on the referral and always so diligent with my various eye issues. My deepest condolences.

Dr Chiavetta was a great physician. I was his patient at the Portersneck office. Can't believe what has happened. He always talked about his wonderful children and wife who he loved very much. God bless him and his family peace.

I originally just left my name, but I felt led to leave a message as well.
Dr. Chiavetta was a truly brilliant man. He was great at what he did and it was fascinating to work for him. You could literally see the wheels turning as he concentrated on a patient's problem or diagnosis, and scribing for him was always a challenge due to how fast he could power through the most complex examination. He was always pleasant and kind to me.
My prayers go out to his family and everyone who loved him dearly.
